Well, this plugin is a need to have, if you have "visible" WordPress site. I've been using Akismet for some time now with Flamingo as a addition. Didn't pay much attention to the spamfolder because I just recently re-opened my website. Guess what? 39 crazy mails were caught within a month, and they were all spam.
Don't think I could live without Akismet plugin.
I had Akismet Anti Spam run over more than a year and it "found" hundreds of spam comments. I was wondering the whole time why I never found one of it in my spam folder.A couple of months ago I deinstalled it. I was just curious to see, what kind of "spam comments" I was saved for. Since then not even one spam comment happened.
My conclusion: Akismet is creating fake messages to make itself feel more "worthy". Not recommended!
Akismet has filtered out every spam comment on my site. Highly impressed.
